I’m not a marketing major, but I know what a challenge it is to pick out a demographic for a product and target it to that group.
So who in their right mind wants to hear a bunch of actors talking about other actors?
Oh, that’s right: actors.
As for the quotes themselves, take this one, courtesy of Olympia Dukakis: “In order to audition, you needed an appointment, but I had no contacts, so I tried to crash auditions!” Oh, Olympia, I’m sure casting directors loved that about you! You’re so wacky!
Then there’s Mel Gibson: “I made my stage debut as an altar boy, or, more aptly, a falter boy. I used to trip over my cassock or light myself on fire.” See? When Mel isn’t busy hating Jews, he’s making puns. He’s just a normal guy!
You may remember Mira Sorvino for her Oscar-winning turn in 1995’s Mighty Aphrodite. … No? Well, she offers up this sage advice: “There was something about being in front of audiences when I was in elementary school plays that gave me a thrill. It was like the rush you get from a fast downhill skiing slope or a roller coaster drop.” Yes, acting: nature’s simulated sexual thrill ride.
Ah, to be inspired.
